Indian government has decided to revamp railways ahead of Maha Kumbh and as part of that initiative, a large investment of 5,000 crore would be directed towards this portion only. That certainly will enable transportation to be ready as would be much required in moving huge crowds of devotees back into their faith.
Speaking of railway projects, Maha Kumbh is known as one of the largest assemblies of the faithful anywhere in the world, where millions appear from around the globe. More footfall is expected during the current year owing to the increase in pilgrims. To cater to the unexpected limit reached an elaborate proposal for complete overhaul has been forwarded. Also such new investment to modernize railway infrastructure will also come under construction of new platforms, new trains, station upgrading & counter-business people control systems offering a solution to crowd management.
Vaishnav also stated that these proposed improvements won't just benefit those attending the Maha Kumbh but will be a juicy deal for the rail network of all time because all of these issues apply long-term benefits to better performance and safety. It will modernize signaling so that the outdated track infrastructure will be incorporated in order to be compatible with modern technology and will also help in providing improved station amenities for a smooth and safe journey.
As an additional objective, the government has been making increasing investments and capabilities of Indian Railways to combat shortages of transit facilities, particularly during big events such as the Kumbh Mela. Also, linked with this program, the government, in partnership with the state government, made sure enough provision was made for pilgrims and train stations could handle large crowds safely.
